Ten Inch (bottom diameter) plain white glass shade, gives good ambient light to the top and sides as well as below, but may be too bright if used where it can shine into your face, as when used over a desk. $20 |

The seven inch white shade. As the diffusing white glass is even closer to the bulb than in the ten inch shade above, it's even brighter from the sides when lit with a 100W bulb. You do have a dimmer to cut that intensity in half. $15 |

The eight inch white bell. Because of the varying distances from the bulb, the brightness gradient drops siginificantly from top to bottom, as you see. These look good with tubular bulbs but these are only available up to 60 watts. $18 |

Ten inch amber shade. I think this color works well with all three shades of oak that I make the lamps in. It's a good choice if you will have the shade in front of you, as at a desk or over a table or over a chair that is closely opposed by a couch. This is cased glass: the inside layer is white glass, so the down-reflected light is not colored by the amber glass. $25 |

Seven Inch amber cone. Like the above but a smaller target for your head. The downcast light pattern is almost identical to the the ten inch. $20 |

Six-inch clear holophane shade. If you put a regular 60 to 100W bulb in it, it will glare at you as if there were no shade, BUT, if you put a 50W halogen spot bulb in it (or any other reflector-type bulb that will fit) - it will give you more light in a narrow area for tasks or reading than a 300W regular bulb. These bulbs are available spot and flood and can be aimed using the swivel. Swivel details here. My eyes need more light for detailed work every year and this is the way I get it. These cast-glass shades are much harder to break than the cased-glass shades above and are a good choise for children's bedsides. $5 |

Eight-inch Holophane Bell. The spot bulb is lit in this photo as in the above of the six-inch cone. It's pumping out lots of lumens straight down but none in your eyes. Again, a cast shade, very tough. $12 |
